We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylur Avery and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylur, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting my first business as a franchise, my thought process was to find a brand that I am passionate about while also learning how to effectively run a business. I knew that with franchising, the business model would pretty much already be laid out for me to execute.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Unlike most entrepreneurs, I still work full-time while juggling several “extra-curricular” activities. I am a federal agent and have been for the last 5 years. Prior to this career, I was a state trooper. It has not been easy getting to this point. When I was a trooper, I was the only female to graduate out of 48. We started our academy with 136. I overcame the many challenges of my career by being goal-driven. I know how to have tunnel vision when it comes to my goals. I am also what I like to call an “action taker.” I do not waste time thinking about a decision that needs to be made, I just make a decision and I do so in confidence.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my friend was visiting the area, I will 100% of the time take her to Panns Restaurant for brunch! It is a small diner in the city of Inglewood, the servers are very nice and the food is amazing! We would definitely visit the Pier in Redondo for some good lunch spots. I love Rockin Brews. There is also my favorite place to go called “Wanna Chill?” It is a shaved ice place in Redondo and I will drive an hour just to have some!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would definitely like to give a special recognition to my meditation app, 10% . Meditation has helped me to stay calm and grounded during hard times like the pandemic. Because I have my hands in a lot of things, I have a couple of different mentors. My mentor, Jill, “The Savvy Servant,” has mentored me through getting my nonprofit started and running and was a he help in my philanthropic journey. My mentor, Brian, has coached my through my Real Estate journey and has helped me lock up a $80k deal. And lastly, I am grateful for my Mayweather Boxing and Fitness family. As a whole, they have all played a role in my success as the number 1 studio in the country.
